There are many reasons as to why your PC may be slow and laggy. The steps listed below are some solutions you can try for a quick fix, without needing your IT administrator's credentials.
Do you have multiple tabs and desktop applications open?
- Try to delete tabs and applications that is currently not being used
- Navigate to your Task Manager either by clicking Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys at the same time or by typing in "Task Manager" in your Windows Search bar
- If you see any unnecessary or excessive tasks that are running, select them and click the "End task" button
If that does not fix the problem, please check your RAM storage:
- Navigate to your Task Manager again
- Click on the Performance tab
- Within the Performance tab, navigate to the Memory tab
- Ensure that your memory capacity is 16.0 GB
If your memory capacity is less than 16.0 GB, please submit a ticket to your Helpdesk for a "RAM upgrade."
FOR AGENTS ONLY:
If the user has 16.0 GB RAM, but is still slow and laggy, try these steps:
- Perform a Disk Cleanup
- Remove old users
- Check for corrupted files
- Run a full system scan
- Ensure there are no fake Microsoft Edge browsers installed or in use, if present, uninstall the app immediately
